Natural stone and concrete give a façade its character. With the Trespa® Meteon® ECHO Naturals Collection, Trespa brings that distinctive aesthetic to a façade panel that requires minimal maintenance and retains its colour even after decades of exposure. The collection includes six new décors inspired by volcanic stone, travertine and concrete.

For 66 years, Trespa has been manufacturing high-pressure laminate (HPL) façade panels. Trespa® Meteon®, the range to which ECHO belongs, is renowned for its durability, weather resistance and long-lasting performance. With ECHO Naturals, the company targets architects and building owners seeking the appearance of stone combined with the long-term performance of ventilated façade systems.

Six Décors in Three Material Groups

The new collection features six décors, with two options for each material category:

  • Pearl Stone and Lava Stone are inspired by volcanic rock;
  • Tivoli Travertine and Bianco Travertine are inspired by travertine;
  • Storm Concrete and Mineral Concrete are inspired by concrete.

Each décor is available in two finishes:

  • Matt: smooth and matt.
  • Matt-Rock: combines a matt appearance with the texture of split stone.

The colour palette remains understated, focusing on shades of white, beige and grey. This makes the décors easy to combine with the more than 150 other finishes in the Trespa® Meteon® range, including wood effects and solid colours.

Resistant to the Demands of Urban Environments

The closed EBC surface not only contributes to long-term colour stability but also enhances the material’s resistance to the demands of everyday use. Its smooth surface makes it more difficult for dirt and graffiti to adhere, allowing the panels to be cleaned easily and helping to maintain their appearance over time.

This colour durability is one of the key qualities of Trespa® façade panels. “We can show projects that are twenty or thirty years old,” says Damiano Boi, Account Manager Façade at Trespa. “When we place a new sample next to them, there is no visible difference in colour.”

Even in locations exposed to intensive daily use, the panels retain their robustness and long-term performance. “This makes our panels particularly well suited to high-traffic environments such as schools, retail spaces and transport hubs,” says Boi.

This combination of lasting colour retention, durability and ease of maintenance helps ensure that buildings continue to look their best for decades, even in challenging urban environments.

Suitable for New Construction and Renovation

While the collection is well suited to new-build projects, Trespa also sees significant potential in renovation.

Many buildings constructed during the post-war decades feature façades finished in natural stone or concrete-based materials that have now reached the end of their service life.

“Many of these façades are weathered and stained, and the joints show signs of cracking,” says Boi. “With ECHO, architects can give such buildings a new lease of life while staying true to the original architectural inspiration and benefiting from all the advantages of a ventilated façade system.”

The ECHO décors do not require a special installation method. They are installed in the same way as any other Trespa® Meteon® panel.

“Because the panels are strong, the supporting battens can be spaced further apart than with many other HPL panels,” Boi explains. “This can help reduce substructure costs without compromising structural performance.”

From Façade to Second Life

And after decades of performance on the façade, the story does not end there. Through the Trespa Second Life programme, panels are carefully dismantled at the end of their first application rather than being processed as waste. Partners such as Duplex then transform the panels into high-quality products, including street furniture, bar stools, tables and bus shelters.

“Our panels are designed to deliver long-term performance. With Second Life, we explore how they can be given a valuable new purpose after their initial application,” says Boi.

“As soon as we know that a façade will be replaced, we start discussions with the contractor to ensure the panels are recovered properly,” explains Boi.
